Couponing Tips for Beginners

Here are some tips for those just getting started:

Get your coupons!

Best (and easiest way) is to get coupon inserts from the Sunday paper. The Sunday paper will pay for itself when you use the coupons inside.
My suggestion is to buy one paper for each person in your household. Also, check our blog to see what coupons will be in the coming week’s paper and decide what deal you want to take full advantage of, especially when items are free with coupons.

Other ways:
  • Thursday’s Daily News
  • Coupons.com
  • Weekly Circular Papers that are thrown on your porch Thursdays and Fridays.
  • Hopster
  • RetailMenot

Stay Organized

Use the insert method to organize your coupons (use a file folder to organize coupons by week, clip and cut as you go, or as you need coupons)
Get a binder and baseball card pages to clip, cut and store your coupons. Keep your binder with you everywhere and never miss a deal.

Buy only what’s on sale or only what you have coupons for!

I know this will take some getting used to but this is the best way to save. Plan your meals our based on what is on sale. Stock up on stuff you regularly use to avoid from having to buy it at regular price.
Please post ANY questions you have. We are here to help.
